Prime accused in NEET paper leak Bijendra Gupta arrested in Bihar

The main accused in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam paper leak case has been arrested. The Maharashtra Police arrested Birendra Kumar Gupta, the alleged mastermind of the syndicate responsible for the leak, from Bihar on Saturday after a three-week manhunt .

Multiple names, including Birendra Kumar Gupta, Bijendra Gupta, and Birendra Gupta, appear in different media reports for the same accused. He was finally tracked down in Bihar after changing his locations repeatedly .

The arrest is connected to a paper leak case involving the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), which was scheduled for June 28 but cancelled after police received a tip-off. Subsequent investigations uncovered a multi-state network . The accused's wife and several associates, including two employees of an Agra-based printing press from where Gupta allegedly procured the question papers, had been arrested earlier. Following Gupta's arrest, his close associate Indrajit Singh (also known as Piku) was also detained .

Police suspect Gupta's involvement in paper leaks for multiple government exams across the country. During interrogation, they hope to uncover more information about the broader network, including the money trail and the source of the leaked papers .

This arrest comes amid nationwide student protests over the NEET-UG paper leak, which had also demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
