Pritam sparks retirement rumours following cryptic birthday post

Celebrated music composer Pritam has fueled intense speculation about a potential exit from commercial Bollywood music. He shared a reflective note stating his desire to "live life differently" and step away from the chiseled routine of commercial projects on his 55th birthday (June 14).

"Time to set off on new journeys, which have been kept on the back burner for long. Mainstream is a great ride. But I've always been more curious about the roads unexplored," Pritam wrote.

Anxious fans immediately flooded social media, fearing a permanent hiatus, especially following top playback singer Arijit Singh's recent decision to step away from commercial playback singing. Despite the mounting rumours of his retirement, Pritam has not formally announced a retirement from music entirely.

Industry insiders suggest that instead of a full retirement, Pritam—much like Arijit Singh—is likely pivoting away from high-pressure Bollywood film tracks to focus on independent music and long-sidelined personal passion projects.
