Priyanka, Sonakshi and Vijay among Bollywood stars react to Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation
Several Bollywood celebrities have reacted on social media following the resignation of India's Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with many hailing it as a victory for the student movement.
Actress Sonakshi Sinha shared the news on her Instagram Stories with clapping emojis. She also posted a video of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke reacting to the resignation and wrote, "Bhaiiii kya kar diyaaaa?!?!?"
Priyanka Chopra reshared a news article announcing the resignation on her Instagram Stories and responded with applause, celebration and red heart emojis. She also shared educationist Sonam Wangchuk's reaction to the news.
Actor Vijay Varma posted a photograph of Pradhan on Instagram and quoted the popular song "Channa Mereya" from the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: "Accha chalta hoon... duaaon mein yaad rakhna" (I leave... remember me in your prayers).
Other celebrities who reacted include Vir Das, who wrote a heartfelt post for the students: "You restored a single word of a tiny little sentence of that book we all read in school and forgot. You beautiful kids. Whatever the hell happens from here, you won. Now hurry up and celebrate." Prajakta Koli commented "Big Big Big Winn!!!" on a viral post. Malaika Arora, Diana Penty, Shibani Akhtar and Tisca Chopra also welcomed the decision.
Swara Bhasker called the resignation a "Huge victory for students," while Prakash Raj wrote, "Congratulations my Dear Cockroaches... You have proved that you can bring a regime down to its knees." Abhishek Banerjee changed his display picture and wrote, "DP CHANGE HO GAYI!! A big congratulations to GEN-Z."
Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday amid sustained protests over the alleged NEET paper leak, which had been one of the key demands of the student protesters.
