Nepal plunged deeper into political chaos on Tuesday as protesters stormed the Parliament building and set it on fire, following the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Tensions had been escalating since Monday, when demonstrators began trying to force their way into the Parliament complex. Security forces responded by opening fire, resulting in the deaths of at least 19 people, most of whom were young. The casualties have ignited widespread anger across the country.

Despite a curfew imposed early Tuesday morning, thousands of people broke the restrictions and took to the streets in protest. The demonstrators then breached the Parliament grounds, causing extensive damage and setting the main building ablaze.

Ikram Giri, spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat, confirmed the attack, saying, “Hundreds of protesters entered the Parliament premises and set fire to the main building.”

The government has since ramped up security measures nationwide to prevent further violence, but the political situation remains volatile as the nation grapples with growing unrest.
