Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) stormed into the FIFA Club World Cup final with a stunning 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the second semi-final at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday night. The Champions League winners were completely outclassed as PSG, under coach Luis Enrique, dominated from start to finish.

PSG will face Chelsea in the final on Sunday (July 13).

Real Madrid failed to cope with PSG’s aggressive start, conceding three goals within the first 25 minutes. Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz opened the scoring in the 6th minute from an Ousmane Dembélé assist. Just three minutes later, Dembélé capitalized on a defensive error by Antonio Rüdiger to double the lead.

Although Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois managed to stop a few attacks, he couldn’t prevent Ruiz from scoring again in the 24th minute—this time from an Achraf Hakimi pass. PSG went into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead, effectively sealing Real’s fate.

The second half saw no major comeback from Real Madrid. In the 87th minute, Gonçalo Ramos added PSG’s fourth goal and paid tribute to his late national teammate Diogo Jota with a trademark celebration. Jota and his brother André Silva died in a car accident on July 3.

Former PSG star Kylian Mbappé, now with Real Madrid, failed to leave a mark against his old club. Brazilian winger Vinícius Júnior also had an unusually quiet night.

PSG’s emphatic win puts them on the brink of their first Club World Cup title.
