A tanker named 'PVT Solana' carrying 27,300 tonnes of refined diesel from Malaysia is heading towards Chattogram port.

The ship is expected to arrive at the outer anchorage of Chattogram port on Monday, March 30. After completing necessary procedures, it is scheduled to berth at the dolphin jetty on Tuesday.

Chattogram Port Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim confirmed the matter, stating that the vessel set sail from Malaysia with a large quantity of diesel bound for Bangladesh.

He further said that due to the global situation and instability in the Middle East, pressure on fuel supply has been created worldwide, which is also affecting Bangladesh. For this reason, port authorities are prioritising the rapid unloading of fuel-carrying vessels.

An official of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) said that diesel is not only arriving by sea but is also being supplied through pipelines from India's Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).

Port authorities said multiple vessels carrying various fuels, including LNG, LPG and crude oil, have arrived at Chattogram port in recent days, and unloading operations are continuing regularly.
