In view of the ongoing global situation, the authorities of Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain have temporarily closed their airspace.

Biman's Public Relations Department General Manager ABM Rawshan Kabir said that the Civil Aviation Authority of the countries concerned and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have informed that all commercial flights arriving and departing via Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Bahrain will remain cancelled until further instructions.

In this situation, passengers planning to travel on the Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Bahrain routes have been requested to urgently contact their respective airline offices and reschedule their travel schedules and take necessary measures as per the next instructions.

The authorities have sought the sympathy and cooperation of the passengers in this regard.

The authorities said that any new instructions regarding the air traffic situation will be communicated in due course.

Meanwhile, according to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities, the Doha-bound flight of Biman changed its route in mid-air and landed in Muscat. From there, it will refuel and return to Dhaka. At 1:30am on Tuesday, the Jeddah-bound flight of the plane will go directly to Jeddah without stopping in Doha.

Earlier on Monday, Iran launched a missile attack on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

The Pentagon says Iran launched short- and medium-range ballistic missiles.

The BBC reported citing a US defense official that no US casualties were reported in the attack. Defense officials are monitoring the situation.

However, in the wake of the attack, airspace was closed in Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain in the Middle East.
