RAB has taken special security measures at cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to prevent snatching and other crimes. RAB Director General Md Ahsan Habib Palash has urged buyers and sellers to use cashless or card-based digital payments to avoid the risks of carrying cash.

The RAB chief made the appeal while speaking to journalists after visiting the Gabtali cattle market in the capital on Sunday, May 24.

With public gatherings decreasing in Dhaka and other cities ahead of Eid, the risk of snatching targeting cattle traders increases. To tackle this, security checkposts and patrols have been intensified at markets, and control rooms and watchtowers have been set up.

Traders are being encouraged to avoid cash transactions and instead use cashless or card payments.

Surveillance is also underway to ensure that vehicles carrying cattle are not being forcibly taken to specific markets.

RAB has also prepared necessary equipment to detect and prevent counterfeit currency, with operations ongoing against counterfeit money syndicates.

The RAB chief also warned that legal action would be taken immediately if any rumour or misleading information is spread on social media.

Earlier, the RAB DG visited the Gabtali inter-district bus terminal and spoke with passengers to inquire about their problems.
