Rahul, Priyanka lead protest outside PM Modi's residence
Amid rising tensions over exam-related irregularities and student protests in India, Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi staged a protest in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence. The party sought to step up pressure on the central government through this program on Tuesday (July 21).
The Congress protest comes a day after a march toward Parliament led by the social media-based platform Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of remaining silent on the police crackdown on students. He stated that the Prime Minister should apologize to the students for what happened in Delhi and take necessary measures to stop such actions.
Meanwhile, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi visited RML Hospital in Delhi to check on the injured protesters. Earlier, during a meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rahul demanded a detailed discussion in Parliament regarding the police action against students and the exam-related crisis.
In a post on the social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi said that discussing the future of India's youth is the duty of Parliament. He alleged that force was used against students for raising legitimate questions about their future. He affirmed that Congress will continue its movement on this issue and amplify the voices of students both inside Parliament and on the streets.
