The final of the tri-nation series between Bangladesh Emerging and South Africa Emerging was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain. As a result, both teams were declared joint champions.

The match was scheduled to begin at 1:30pm Bangladesh time in Pretoria, but the toss could not take place because of the rain.

After waiting for nearly four hours, the umpires called off the match as the ground remained waterlogged.

Bangladesh reached the final after winning three of their four matches. They had also defeated South Africa Emerging in their previous encounter.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Bangladesh Emerging captain Zakir Hasan said the team had been eager to play the final but were disappointed that the match could not go ahead because of the rain.

University Sport South Africa were the third team in the 50-over series. Bangladesh ‘A’ will next face South Africa Emerging in a four-day match on 16 August, with the second match scheduled to begin on 23 August.
