Bangladeshi outfit Rajshahi Stars saw their AFC Women’s Champions League knockout hopes dashed following a 2-1 defeat against local side Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium in Malaysia on Thursday.

Sabah FC took the lead late in the first half through Ng Hekima Starks, who doubled the advantage in the 80th minute as the host side exerted continuous pressure throughout the second half.

Rajshahi Stars pulled one back in the 87th minute when Mst Sultana scored with a brilliant long-range strike from outside the box after driving down the right flank. Despite a late rally, the Bangladeshi side was unable to find an equalizer.

The result marks Rajshahi Stars' second consecutive loss in Group A, following a 4-0 defeat to East Bengal in their opening fixture. Sitting at the bottom of the group, they are now mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the knockout stages.
Rajshahi Stars will play their final group-stage match against Rovers on Sunday.
