Rajshahi voters urge govt to make public affidavit information of candidates

The voters of Rajshahi want to know the amount of assets submitted in the affidavits of the upcoming parliamentary candidates through government publicity. At the same time, they also want to know the amount of assets on a proportional basis after the annual accounts following the election.

Businessman Abdul Karim said that detailed information about the six elected parliamentarians of Rajshahi and their families needs to be publicly disclosed. By doing this, 25 percent of crime will leave society. And if they have goodwill and there is no pressure from above unfair lobbying, 25 percent of crime will be eradicated. If parliamentary measures are taken to bring the goodwill and accountability of government bureaucrats under proper management, corruption will be eradicated from all parts of the state.

Former government official Ajibur Rahman said that corruption can be eliminated only if the elected parliamentarians have the will. Fascist behaviour cannot be practised. One cannot consider oneself above accountability.

An analysis of the affidavits submitted by the BNP and Jamaat-nominated candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies of Rajshahi has shown that the annual income of BNP candidate Md Sharif Uddin for Rajshahi-1 constituency is 1 crore 24 lakh 2 thousand 547 taka. Total assets are 2 crore 68 lakh 27 thousand 971 taka. His wife's income is 4 lakh 72 thousand 756 taka. Assets are 76 lakh 81 thousand 440 taka.

The annual income of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Mujibur Rahman for the same constituency is 6 lakh 2 thousand 684 taka. Total assets are 36 lakh 32 thousand 333 taka. His wife's income is 2 lakh taka and she has 10 bhori of gold ornaments.

The annual income of BNP candidate Md Mizanur Rahman for Rajshahi-2 Sadar constituency is 8 lakh 32 thousand 500 taka. Total assets are 96 lakh 62 thousand 875 taka. His wife's income is 13 lakh 33 thousand 521 taka. Assets are 1 crore 59 lakh 41 thousand 233 taka.

Jamaat candidate Mohammad Jahangir is also a millionaire in this constituency. His annual income is 38 lakh 85 thousand 869 taka. Total assets are 2 crore 17 lakh 30 thousand 677 taka. His wife's income is 5 lakh 365 taka and assets are 31 lakh 58 thousand 916 taka.

BNP's Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon in Rajshahi-3 constituency has an annual income of 21 lakh 60 thousand 553 taka. His total assets are 1 crore 46 lakh 43 thousand 251 taka. His wife's income is 18 lakh 8 thousand 274 taka and assets are 1 crore 28 lakh 40 thousand 42 taka.

Jamaat's Md Abul Kalam Azad's annual income is 7 lakh 10 thousand taka. His total assets are 41 lakh 74 thousand 980 taka. His wife's income is 4 lakh 80 thousand taka and assets are 13 lakh 67 thousand taka.

BNP-nominated candidate in Rajshahi-4 constituency DMD Ziaur Rahman's annual income is 14 lakh 76 thousand 502 taka. His total assets are 90 lakh 95 thousand 58 taka. His wife's income is 6 lakh 37 thousand 245 taka and assets are 29 lakh 71 thousand 228 taka.

Jamaat candidate Dr Md Abdul Bari Sardar's annual income is 18 lakh 9 thousand 579 taka. He is also a millionaire in this constituency. His total assets are 2 crore 78 lakh 88 thousand 584 taka. His wife's income is 5 lakh 25 thousand taka and assets are 32 lakh 41 thousand 542 taka.

BNP's Professor Nazrul Islam in Rajshahi-5 constituency has an annual income of 9 lakh 60 thousand taka. His total assets are 1 crore 31 lakh 99 thousand taka. His wife's income is 9 lakh 65 thousand taka and assets are 1 crore 83 lakh 89 thousand 16 taka.

Jamaat's Manzur Rahman's annual income is 9 lakh 80 thousand taka. His total assets are 55 lakh 28 thousand 976 taka. His wife's income is 3 lakh 75 thousand 390 taka and assets are 35 lakh 99 thousand 994 taka.

In Rajshahi-6 constituency, BNP's Md Abu Said Chand has an annual income of 6 lakh 30 thousand taka. His total assets are 32 lakh 55 thousand taka. Jamaat's Md Nazmul Haque has an annual income of 10 lakh 1 thousand 499 taka. His total assets are 29 lakh 96 thousand 992 taka.
