Rajshahi-5: Clash between BNP-independent candidate supporters

A clash has taken place between supporters of the sheaf of paddy and independent football symbol candidates in Durgapur upazila under the Rajshahi-5 constituency.

The incident occurred around 8:50 am on Wednesday in front of the Naopara Government Primary School centre in Durgapur upazila.

Witnesses said an argument broke out between Rezaul Karim, the independent candidate contesting with the football symbol, and supporters of Nazrul Islam Mandal, the sheaf of paddy candidate, after Karim arrived at the polling centre. At one stage, pushing and shoving escalated into a clash between both sides.

No one was seriously injured in the incident. Police and army personnel rushed to the spot upon receiving information and brought the situation under control. The environment at the centre is currently peaceful.
