Following the 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Dhaka and surrounding areas on Friday at 10:38am, the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has launched an immediate inspection of affected structures.

During the inspection, several buildings in the capital were reported tilted or cracked.

Additionally, officials have been instructed to submit a detailed Disaster and Emergency Assessment (DEA) report within 15 days.

Under the direction of RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md. Reazul Islam, officials from the Development Control Wing inspected buildings to assess the damage.

The Alatunnesa School and College in Badda, previously marked as vulnerable, was sealed immediately after further damage. In Gulshan, a 10-storey building with a cracked column had its swimming pool water removed as a precaution.

RAJUK also inspected other key sites, including Tikatuli, Wari, Mugda WASA Road, Kafrul, Agargaon, and the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital.

On Monday at 10am, RAJUK officials, including the chairman, will inspect additional earthquake-damaged sites in Armanitola, Badda, and other affected areas to finalise assessments.
