Rakesh Roshan denies Tk 640-crore budget rumors for 'Krrish 4'
Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has firmly shut down ongoing speculation regarding the budget and production delays of the highly anticipated superhero sequel, Krrish 4, calling rumors of a financial dispute "nonsense."
Recent media reports had alleged a rift between the film's stakeholders, claiming that lead actor Hrithik Roshan had demanded a massive tk 650-crore budget to secure top-tier VFX and world-class action for the project, while co-producer Yash Raj Films (YRF) wanted to cap production costs at tk 450 crore.
Dismissing these claims, Rakesh Roshan clarified the situation in an interview with Mid-Day. "It's all nonsense that Hrithik has asked for a tk 650-crore budget... while YRF wants to cap costs at tk 450 crore," he stated. "Making a good film catering to a wide audience takes time. Even I have taken time for each of my Krrish offerings."
Addressing the film's timeline and rumors of a production delay, the senior Roshan explained that the schedule is simply dependent on Hrithik's current professional commitments, which include his newly launched production house.
"Krrish (Hrithik) is on another planet, and we are all waiting for his dates," he joked, adding, "There are no issues; all is smooth. It's teamwork between Adi (Aditya Chopra), Hrithik, and me."
The upcoming installment marks a major milestone for the franchise, as Hrithik Roshan is set to make his directorial debut with the film. The official announcement was made last year by Rakesh Roshan on social media, marking 25 years since he originally launched his son as an actor. The film is being co-produced under the guidance of both Rakesh Roshan and YRF's Aditya Chopra.
According to previous updates from the makers, Krrish 4 is currently being targeted for a theatrical release in 2027.
