Rakul Preet Singh eyes to dive into romance, history and horror

Rakul Preet Singh is looking to push her acting boundaries with more demanding roles, saying she wants to explore genres ranging from intense romance and historical dramas to horror.

The Telugu film star, who will soon appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated “Ramayana”, said she is keen to take on characters that challenge her as an actor and allow her to learn something new with every project.

Although she has worked across a variety of films, Rakul believes there are still many stories and characters she has yet to explore. A deeply emotional love story is particularly high on her wish list, as she has not yet appeared in a film centred entirely on romance.

She is also interested in playing a historical character and starring in a period drama. Horror is another genre she has yet to experience and would like to explore.

Rakul said her approach to choosing films has also evolved. She is no longer driven primarily by big budgets, star power or genre. Instead, she wants to prioritise roles that offer substantial scope for performance and push her beyond familiar territory.

At this stage of her career, she said, she wants to test herself with complex characters and projects that move her emotionally and give her the excitement of doing something different.
