Ramadan is ideal time for weight loss: Sumi

Fitness model and Pro X Fitness Gym owner Sumaiya Akhter Sumi recently shared her advice on fitness and health awareness surrounding Ramadan at an event.

Sumi said many view Ramadan only from a religious perspective, but for health-conscious individuals, it offers an opportunity for natural intermittent fasting. If dietary habits are properly controlled, Ramadan can be effective for maintaining body composition, fat loss or toning.

She cautioned, "Eating excessive junk food at iftar ruins the benefits of the entire day. Therefore, it's important to be conscious of what you eat at sehri and iftar, how many calories you consume and the quality of your food."

Speaking separately for women, she said working women and homemakers tend to accumulate excess body fat. Although not everyone can go to the gym, significant changes can be achieved at home through calorie counting and proper dietary habits.

Sumi further said fitness is not just about losing weight; it's about living correctly. A healthy life is built through regular sleep, maintaining the circadian cycle, moderate food intake and exercise as needed.

She said good food and regular practice keep not only the body but also the mind healthy. This increases energy and boosts confidence.

Finally, she reminded that health awareness is not just a one-month affair; it should be a year-round habit.
