Ramisa murder case: Accused Sohail Rana, wife produced before court

The main accused Sohail Rana and his wife Swapna Akter in the murder of eight-year-old Ramisa were produced before a Dhaka court on Sunday (May 24).

They were produced to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court lock-up between 11:20am and 11:45am, according to court officials.

The prosecution informed that the police will submit the charge sheet at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court later in the day, after which the case will be transferred to the Children Violence Suppression Tribunal for trial.

Authorities said necessary legal procedures are being followed to ensure smooth conduct of the case.

The case involves the killing of Ramisa, whose dismembered body was recovered from a Pallabi flat on May 19. Police later arrested the accused, and Sohail Rana reportedly confessed to his involvement in court.
