Ramisa murder trial to be completed in 7 days: Home Minister
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the trial of the case filed in connection with the rape and murder of child Ramisa in Pallabi will take place in the next five to seven days.
He said, if necessary, the special court may decide to cancel the leave. The Ministry of Home Affairs will do whatever it takes to ensure maximum punishment for the accused.
In a briefing on Sunday (May 24) afternoon, he said, 'The charge sheet will be filed in the court today. I hope that the trial will be completed within 5 to 7 days in this special court.'
The Home Minister said, 'The accused of Ramisa's murder was arrested within 7 hours. We did the DNA test very quickly. The charge sheet was prepared last night after collecting all the reports including the post-mortem. I hope the trial will be done soon.'
Meanwhile, the main accused in this case Sohail Rana and his wife Sapna Akhtar have been produced in the court.
Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police handed over the DNA test report to the investigating officer. DNA, post-mortem and viscera reports have been prepared on priority basis, officials said.
The officials involved in the investigation hope that the DNA report information can be presented in court as important evidence against the accused.
Eight-year-old Ramisa's body was recovered from a house in Pallabi of the capital on Tuesday. The incident caused a stir across the country.
Later on May 20, the police arrested the main accused Sohel Rana from Narayanganj. He gave a confessional statement in the court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
