Rancon officially launches Bangladesh-made Mitsubishi Xpander
Rancon Auto Industries Limited has officially launched the locally assembled Mitsubishi Xpander, marking the beginning of a new era in domestic car manufacturing.
The seven-seater family SUV, powered by a 1.5-liter MIVEC engine, blends Japanese engineering excellence with local innovation. The official unveiling took place at a grand event attended by high-profile dignitaries, including the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, Saida Shinichi, who graced the ceremony as the chief guest.
Also present were Romo Rouf Chowdhury, Group Managing Director of Rancon Group, Farhana Karim, Managing Director of Rancon Auto Industries, top executives from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, and prominent figures from Bangladesh’s banking and corporate sectors.
In a video message from Japan, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation CEO Takao Kato lauded the milestone, calling it “the beginning of a great journey.” He highlighted the Xpander’s success across ASEAN markets and expressed optimism about future collaborations with Rancon to manufacture more advanced vehicles in Bangladesh.
Yutaka Yano, Division General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, praised Rancon's cutting-edge manufacturing facility, saying, "From paint shop to final assembly, Rancon follows Mitsubishi's global standards, ensuring that Bangladeshi customers receive a reliable, safe, and competitively priced vehicle."
Romo Rouf Chowdhury, in his keynote address, emphasized Rancon's long-standing relationship with Mitsubishi spanning five decades. "With government support and Mitsubishi’s cooperation, we've built a modern manufacturing plant equipped with advanced technology and trained personnel. Each locally assembled Xpander comes with a five-year warranty and two years of free service, supported by 11 after-sales service centers nationwide," he said.
Rancon Industrial Park, situated on 52 acres of land, now produces a range of renowned international brands, including Mitsubishi Motors, Mercedes-Benz bus chassis, Suzuki motorcycles, Proton, ZAC, LG, and Toshiba.
Ambassador Saida Shinichi hailed the launch as a testament to the growing strategic partnership between Japan and Bangladesh. "This is more than just a vehicle launch—it reflects our strong bilateral ties and shared commitment to technology and development," he remarked.
The event also featured a vibrant cultural touch, with music stars, influencers, and popular actor Siam Ahmed—who serves as the brand ambassador for Mitsubishi Motors Bangladesh—joining the celebration.
