Raphinha gets Brazil's iconic No 10 jersey after Neymar

After the Neymar era, a new story is beginning with Brazil's No 10 jersey. The new owner of the iconic shirt is Raphinha.

In Brazil's first international fixtures of the new cycle, the Barcelona star has been given the No 10 jersey that was Neymar's legacy. Last night, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) published the squad's jersey numbers for the upcoming friendly matches against Australia and India. In that list, Raphinha's name appears alongside the No 10. ESPN first reported the matter.

Neymar last wore Brazil's No 10 jersey at the 2026 World Cup. Before that, he also wore the number at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups. Now, in the new cycle, that jersey is going to Raphinha.

Raphinha is not entirely new to the iconic No 10 jersey, however.

In Neymar's absence, he also wore the No 10 in the 2024 World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay. But the Barcelona star has mostly worn the No 11 jersey for Brazil in the past.

With Raphinha getting the No 10, his old No 11 has gone to Estevao. Vinicius Junior remains at No 7. And Endrick has got the No 9.

In the new cycle, Raphinha has a big responsibility ahead. The challenge now is to show Brazil a new path while wearing the iconic jersey left behind by Neymar.

Brazil will face Australia in the first friendly at 4pm Bangladesh time today. The two teams' second friendly is on September 29. After that, Carlo Ancelotti's team will play India in Kolkata on October 3.
