Reserve rises to $32 billion According to the IMF's BPM6 accounting method, Bangladesh's gross foreign exchange reserves stood at $32.15 billion as of Monday, August 10. The latest data published by Bangladesh Bank confirmed the figure. The IMF's BPM6 is considered the most acceptable accounting method for usable foreign exchange reserves of any country in international standards. This reserve figure comes amid the central bank's continued efforts to maintain stability in the country's external sector and currency market. Earlier on Sunday, central bank statistics had reported that gross reserves had crossed the $32 billion mark.

আন্তর্জাতিক মুদ্রা তহবিলের (আইএমএফ) হিসাব পদ্ধতি 'বিপিএম-৬' অনুযায়ী সোমবার (১০ আগস্ট) পর্যন্ত বাংলাদেশের মোট (গ্রস) বৈদেশিক মুদ্রার রিজার্ভ বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৩ হাজার ২১৫ কোটি (৩২.১৫ বিলিয়ন) মার্কিন ডলারে। বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের প্রকাশিত সর্বশেষ তথ্যে এমনটাই জানানো হয়। আন্তর্জাতিক মানদণ্ডে যেকোনো দেশের ব্যবহারযোগ্য বৈদেশিক মুদ্রার রিজার্ভ গণনার ক্ষেত্রে আইএমএফের বিপিএম-৬ পদ্ধতিটি সবচেয়ে গ্রহণযোগ্য মাধ্যম হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়। দেশের বৈদেশিক বাণিজ্য খাত ও মুদ্রা বাজারে স্থিতিশীলতা বজায় রাখতে কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের অব্যাহত পদক্ষেপের মধ্যেই রিজার্ভের এ তথ্য সামনে এল। এর আগে গত রবিবার প্রকাশিত কেন্দ্রীয় ব্যাংকের পরিসংখ্যানে জানানো হয়েছিল যে, বিপিএম-৬ পদ্ধতিতে দেশের গ্রস রিজার্ভ ৩২ বিলিয়ন ডলারের মাইলফলক অতিক্রম করেছে।
