The new president of the current Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is Faruque Ahmed and director Nazmul Abedin Fahim - both are interim representatives. They were nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC). After the change of government last August, most of the directors, including former president Nazmul Hasan Papon, went into hiding, the pair of Faruque and Fahim took over the charges of the cricket board. These two were considered a 'matchmaker' from the beginning. But over time, they have now become opponents of each other! News of their rift has spread in the media. More than half of the directors are not present in BCB. Out of 25 directors, 8-10 are named. Due to the conflict between the president and the director, an unstable atmosphere now prevails in the BCB.

Nazmul Abedin Fahim wants to leave BCB due to the conflict with President Faruque. The board president is no longer able to trust Fahim. Mistrust and distance have developed between the two. This is why the BCB is not getting the space to work, Fahim complained. On the other hand, Faruk Ahmed claims that the problem that arose with Fahim has been resolved.

What's the problem then? The incident took place on December 30, the opening day of the BPL. In the wake of an incident in the president's box of the Mirpur Sher-e- Bangla Cricket Stadium, Faruk and Fahim exchanged heated words. At one point, Faruque said to Fahim: 'You act like a clown. Do you want to be the BCB president? Come on, I'll make it happen.'

Fahim was very disappointed with the BCB president's comment. He told the media: 'It has disappointed me a lot and it has made me understand that at the moment the cricket board president may not be taking me into his confidence. I don't know why the president made a comment about me. I was surprised to hear that. I was very surprised. Naturally, I did not expect such a comment and that in front of many people.'

The two came to the cricket board together. It was natural for them to have a better understanding than others. But their relationship has deteriorated. Fahim does not want to remain in the BCB due to the misbehavior of the board president and his roleless behavior. He said: 'I often think that it would be better if I were not on the board. Because the role I can play from outside the board, the kind of discussions I can have, is not possible for me to do from the board. If I am on the board, I have to work on the board. If I cannot work, it is better to be outside.'

He added: 'We have not yet been able to set up the standing committees. What has happened is that I am working with the authority that I am the entire responsibility of this department or that department. I have not had the opportunity to work with that authority. It has not been as dynamic as it could have been. I am not getting the opportunity to play the role that I had the opportunity to play at the moment.’

Meanwhile, regarding the incident with Fahim, BCB President Faruque Ahmed told the media in his reaction: ‘There was pressure for tickets, an incident also happened in the President’s Box. All in all, the day was not my best day. Then something came up. I may not even remember what I said to whom. Differences of opinion are very natural. I don’t see anything wrong here. We should try to resolve these ourselves first.’

Regarding Fahim’s talk of resigning from the Cricket Board, Faruque said: ‘Fahim did not want to resign. He said that working is difficult. I have not heard anything that he wants to resign. Anyway, I have spoken to Fahim bhai. I have spoken to Jamuna TV. Fahim bhai was with me.’ Claiming that the problem with Fahim has been resolved, Farooq Ahmed said, ‘Fahim bhai did not want to talk anymore. He was by my side. In short, we have solved the problem.'

It has been only three and a half months since Faruque Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim came to the Cricket Board. It is known that not only Fahim, but many other BCB directors are annoyed and dissatisfied with the board president for various reasons.

In addition, there has been chaos over tickets in the BPL. The personal officer of the youth and sports advisor has been accused of bad behavior with the board president. All in all, a stalemate has been created in the BCB.
