Rishad Hossain signs for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in SA20

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has been signed by Sunrisers Eastern Cape for the upcoming season of South Africa's franchise T20 league, SA20 . This will be his first appearance in the tournament, and he is set to become the first Bangladeshi player to feature in the competition.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the most successful team in SA20 history with three titles, have brought in Rishad as a direct signing . He will be joined by Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who will also make his SA20 debut . Notably, Bangladesh's former head coach Russell Domingo is currently serving as the batting coach for the franchise.

Rishad's inclusion comes off the back of a strong 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, where he finished as Bangladesh's leading wicket-taker with 14 scalps . He also impressed in recent Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League stints.

The upcoming SA20 season is scheduled to begin on January 9, 2027, and will run until February 4 . The tournament may clash with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), meaning Rishad could miss the BPL, as he did last season to play in the Big Bash.
