Riya wants to be a regular face on screen through consistent work
Young fashion model and actress Riya Barman is gradually establishing herself in showbiz through confidence and consistent work.
Her journey began in 2021 with a photoshoot, followed by modelling and acting assignments. Her first major break was modelling for the Rang Bangladesh brand, which she considers a milestone.
Growing up in a culturally inclined family, she received strong support from the beginning. Her grandfather was a singer who performed on BTV, while her father also sings. Her family insisted she balance academics with showbiz, a condition she continues to follow.
Riya said her first experience in front of the camera was enjoyable, as she felt comfortable being the centre of attention. However, audience expectations now weigh more heavily on her mind.
Her most memorable project so far is The Scheme, where she worked with Irfan Anik. She finds both modelling and acting equally challenging and aims to prove herself in both fields.
She considers competition the biggest challenge for newcomers and believes staying relevant requires regular work. She wants to maintain consistent on-screen presence to strengthen her position.
Riya has appeared in TV commercials for BRAC, Grameenphone’s Shopno Jabe Bari, Yamaha, Pran, Harpic and the Bangladesh Election Commission, as well as a music video by Dhruv Guha. She has also acted in eight single-episode dramas.
With continued effort, family support and ambition, she hopes to build a long-term career in the entertainment industry.
