Rob Reiner receives posthumous Emmy Award nine months after death

Hollywood legend actor and producer Rob Reiner has received a posthumous Emmy Award nearly nine months after his death. He has been honoured in the Outstanding Guest Actor (Comedy) category for his performance in the series ‘The Bear’.

Awards were presented in various categories for craftspeople and guest artists at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony held on September 5 and 6. Presenter Wendy McClendon-Covey accepted the award on behalf of Rob Reiner. The audience present at the event stood and gave a one-minute applause in tribute to the late actor and producer.

Rob Reiner has also broken a record set by his father with this award win. He last won an Emmy in 1978 for the classic comedy series ‘All in the Family’. Winning again after 48 years, Rob has set the record for the longest gap between two awards.

This record was previously held by his father Carl Reiner. Carl Reiner won an Emmy in 1958 for ‘Caesar’s Hour’ and was awarded again in 1995 for the series ‘Mad About You’. The gap between his two wins was 37 years.

The bodies of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle Singer Reiner were recovered from their home in Los Angeles in December last year. This recognition of his acting career even after death has brought the veteran Hollywood star back into discussion.

Meanwhile, the main ceremony of this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on September 14. The winners of the main categories will be presented with their awards on that day. HBO Max’s medical drama ‘The Pit’ is leading this year’s nominations with nominations in 25 categories. The same platform’s comedy series ‘Hacks’ is in the next position with 24 nominations.

Among the new series, Apple TV’s ‘Widow’s Bay’ has received 19 nominations and ‘Pluribus’ has received 18. In the limited series category, the second season of Netflix’s ‘Beef’ has received the highest 16 nominations.
