Just three months before the World Cup is set to begin, a major blow has hit the Brazil camp. Real Madrid's Brazilian star Rodrygo's World Cup dream has ended due to a knee injury. The talented forward will not be able to play in the World Cup and has also been ruled out for the remainder of the current season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and lateral meniscus in his right knee.

Rodrygo suffered the injury during Real Madrid's unexpected 1-0 defeat against Getafe in La Liga on Monday. He had been experiencing discomfort in his knee for some time. Following tests, Real Madrid confirmed in an official statement that significant damage to his ACL and meniscus had been detected. Sources close to medical staff indicate he may be sidelined for at least eight months.

Rodrygo has understandably been mentally devastated by the news that his World Cup and club season are over. In an emotional post on social media, he wrote, "This is one of the hardest days of my life. A big obstacle has come in my career. For some days, I won't be able to do what I love most. I will miss the rest of the season with the club and the World Cup for my country, which was like a dream for me. Now I have no choice but to stay strong."

Brazil's poster boy Neymar went through a similarly severe injury in 2023. He did not forget to express sympathy for his junior teammate in this difficult time. On social media, Neymar wrote, "I know very well the pain, anxiety and fear of this injury. The most important thing now is to stay mentally strong. You will come back stronger."
