Former Bangladesh women’s team captain Rumana Ahmed has called for the inclusion of women cricketers in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director positions, saying it would be a landmark step for the development of women’s cricket in the country.

Speaking to Cricbuzz on Saturday (April 25), Rumana said a female representative in the BCB board would help address on-field challenges faced by women cricketers and strengthen the overall development structure.

An 11-member ad-hoc committee, led by Tamim Iqbal, is currently overseeing the board’s interim operations as preparations continue for the BCB elections scheduled for mid-June.

Under the current BCB constitution, 25 directors are elected from various categories, including clubs, districts and divisions, the National Sports Council, and former cricketers. However, there is no designated quota or position for women cricketers.

Rumana acknowledged that structural changes would be required to ensure female representation, noting that without constitutional amendments, inclusion remains difficult under the existing framework.
