Independent candidate Barrister Rumeen Farhana has received the duck symbol for the upcoming Thirteenth National Parliament election in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, covering Sarail–Ashuganj and two unions of Bijoynagar. On Tuesday, January 20, in the courtyard meetings held at Bogoir Bazar and Sohagpur in Durgapur Union of Ashuganj Upazila, Rumeen Farhana, in her speech as the chief guest, urged everyone to ensure that her duck symbol is not stolen. She warned that attempts could be made to “steal my duck” through fraudulent votes during the election. Rumeen Farhana also called on voters to remain vigilant and emphasised the responsibility of the administration and relevant authorities to ensure a free and fair election.

ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া-২ (সরাইল–আশুগঞ্জ) আসনের প্রার্থী রুমিন ফারহানা হাঁস প্রতীক পেয়েছেন। বুধবার (২১ জানুয়ারি) রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তার কার্যালয় থেকে প্রকাশিত চূড়ান্ত প্রতীক বরাদ্দ তালিকায় তার নামে হাঁস প্রতীক বরাদ্দ দেওয়া হয়। উল্লেখ্য, এ আসনে বিএনপি জোটগত সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ভিন্ন প্রার্থীকে সমর্থন দিলেও দলীয় সিদ্ধান্তের বাইরে গিয়ে রুমিন ফারহানা স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হিসেবে নির্বাচনে অংশ নিচ্ছেন। এ কারণে তাকে বিএনপি থেকে বহিষ্কার করা হয়েছে। প্রতীক পাওয়ার পর প্রতিক্রিয়ায় রুমিন ফারহানা বলেন, জনগণের ভোট ও সমর্থনের ওপর আস্থা রেখেই তিনি নির্বাচনে লড়ছেন। আসন্ন নির্বাচনে ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া-২ আসনটি বিদ্রোহী প্রার্থী থাকার কারণে জেলার অন্যতম আলোচিত আসনে পরিণত হয়েছে।
