Runa Laila to be honoured with ‘Minar-E-Delhi’ award

Legendary singer Runa Laila is set to be honoured with the prestigious ‘Minar-e-Delhi’ award at the 15th Delhi International Film Festival in recognition of her outstanding contribution to music.

The award will be presented during the festival scheduled to be held from May 4 to May 8 in the Indian capital.

Organised with the support of India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the festival marks its 15th edition this year and has drawn significant international attention.

Expressing her gratitude, Runa Laila wrote on social media that she was thankful to the festival authorities for the invitation and looked forward to attending the event.

Festival founder and president Ram Kishore Parcha praised the singer in an official letter, noting that her voice has touched millions across India and Bangladesh over decades and has helped strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

The festival will be held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

Alongside Runa Laila, several prominent South Asian personalities, including Sharmila Tagore, Rituparna Sengupta, Revathy, Shweta Menon, Usha Uthup, Rajpal Yadav, and Raghubir Yadav, are expected to attend.
