Russia is ready to resume three-way talks with Ukraine and the United States, but on the security parameters of a final peace deal and not a "short" ceasefire, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

"The goal of these discussions will be to address the issue of ensuring security for both Ukraine and Russia within the framework of a final agreement, not after some kind of short pause in fighting," Putin told a reporter from state TV.

Putin said Russia had agreed to resume talks on the Ukraine war under US mediation. Earlier, his senior aide Yuri Ushakov said trilateral talks involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine and the United States could take place after November 10.

Meanwhile, as part of efforts to end the war in Ukraine, US special envoy Steve Witkoff recently met Putin in St Petersburg, Russia. Before that, he held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Oslo, the capital of Norway. However, no final agreement to end the war has yet been reached.
