SAFF U-17 Championship: Bangladesh held to 1-1 draw by Bhutan
Bangladesh’s U-17 girls’ football team suffered a setback in their title bid after being held 1-1 by hosts Bhutan in a crucial match at the SAFF U-17 Championship on Friday.
Bangladesh took an early lead through Purnima’s goal in the 6th minute but conceded an equalizer in first-half stoppage time. Despite several attacking efforts from both sides in the second half, neither team managed to score again.
The draw leaves Bangladesh with 10 points from five matches, sitting second behind India, who remain unbeaten with 12 points from four matches. Nepal has 3 points, while Bhutan earned their first point of the tournament today.
The four-team tournament follows a double round-robin format, with the highest point scorer to be declared champion. Head-to-head results and tiebreakers will decide in case of a points tie.
