SAFF U-17: Preeti’s treble helps Bangladesh thrash Nepal by 4-1
A sensational hat-trick from forward Sourovi Akand Preeti helped Bangladesh U-17 women’s football team to cruise a dominant 4-1 victory over Nepal.
With the victory, Bangladeshi girls keep their championship hopes alive in the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship.
Thuinui Marma opened the scoring in the 38th minute after beating three defenders. Preeti doubled the lead in the 45th minute with a left-footed strike. Nepal pulled one back in added time of the first half through captain Bhumika Budathoki, capitalizing on a defensive error.
In the second half, Preeti scored again in the 71st minute from a corner and completed her hat-trick in the 86th minute.
Bangladesh now have 9 points, equal with India, but trail on goal difference (+6 to India’s +17). India have a game in hand against Bhutan later today.
