The government has appointed journalist Saidur Rahman as the Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, India. The appointment was confirmed through a gazette notification issued by the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday (July 20). He has been given a contractual appointment to the post for a period of one year.

According to the notification, the appointment is subject to the condition that he relinquishes any other profession, business, or working relationships with any government, semi-government, autonomous, or private institutions and organizations. The one-year term will take effect from the date of his joining.

Previously, journalist Faisal Mahmud was appointed to the post of Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi by the interim government. However, the government cancelled the remaining period of his two-year contractual appointment earlier this year on February 15, removing him from the position. The post had remained vacant since then.
