Salah to stay in Europe as Besiktas move imminent

Amid strong speculation of a move to Saudi Arabia, Egyptian star forward Mohamed Salah is set to choose Turkey as his next destination. After leaving Liverpool, he is very close to joining 16-time Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas.

Italian journalist Nicolò Schira has reported that Besiktas have agreed on personal terms with Salah and his agent. The two sides have reached an agreement on a contract worth approximately €12 million .

The club's board is currently finalising the necessary paperwork before the official announcement. Salah's arrival is expected to be confirmed within the next few days.

After the end of his relationship with Liverpool, several Saudi Arabian clubs attempted to sign him. However, various reports have consistently indicated that the 34-year-old Salah was keen to continue playing in European football, with Besiktas emerging as his likely destination .

In the recently concluded World Cup, Salah played a key role in guiding Egypt to the Round of 16. However, his team were eliminated after a 3-2 defeat to defending champions Argentina in the last 16. He scored one goal and provided two assists throughout the tournament .
