Salauddin to step down as Bangladesh team coach
Assistant coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team Mohammad Salahuddin, who has been under heavy criticism following consecutive series defeats against West Indies in T20s and Afghanistan in ODIs, has decided to step down from his role. The experienced coach will leave his position after the upcoming Ireland series.
Salahuddin joined the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on November 5 last year. Although he had a contract running until the 2027 World Cup, he is resigning before completing one year, citing personal reasons.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Salahuddin has already submitted his resignation letter to the BCB. It has been reported that he was not comfortable in his current role. He also confirmed his resignation, telling Cricbuzz, “Yes, I am resigning,” but declined to elaborate further.
After the departure of David Hemp, Salahuddin took charge of the team’s batting unit. However, he has faced criticism in recent months over the batters’ lack of consistency and the team’s overall poor performance.
Meanwhile, BCB has appointed Mohammad Ashraful as the new batting coach for the upcoming Ireland series.
According to the schedule, the Ireland team will arrive in Bangladesh on November 6. They will play two Tests and three T20 matches during the tour. The first Test will be held in Sylhet from November 11 to 15, and the second in Dhaka from November 19 to 23. The three-match T20 series will take place in Chattogram on November 27 and 29 and December 2.
