A Qirat conference in Sandwip, Chattogram has sparked widespread outrage after participants were heard chanting ‘Pakistan zindabad’.

The incident took place on Friday at the South Sandwip High School field, where locals said some attendees shouted the pro-Pakistan slogan. A video of the chants circulated on social media on Monday.

As the incident occurred on the first day of December—the beginning of the month of victory in the Liberation War—pro-liberation groups expressed strong anger. They said chanting pro-Pakistan slogans 54 years after independence is an insult to the spirit of the Liberation War.

After the video went viral, the issue quickly became a centre of discussion. Local organisations aligned with the Liberation War have demanded an investigation and action against those responsible.

The administration has not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident.
