Sangeeta earns praise as Dilruba in ongoing series 'Porompora'
Actor and recitation artist Sangeeta Chowdhury is actively working in film, stage, television and commercials. Currently, alongside other projects, she is performing in Deepto TV's long-running series 'Porompora'. She has already made an impact with her character Dilruba. She has also recently completed work on several commercials.
Regarding her current busy schedule, she said, "I worked on a Banglalink commercial; it was a great time. I'm regularly shooting for Deepto TV's daily serial 'Porompora', produced by Zahidul Islam Zahid and directed by Ashish Roy. In between, I've started shooting for renowned filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel's film 'Sojon Badiar Ghat'. I've finished work on an Eid tele-drama by Zakaria Soukhin, produced by Capital Drama. Shooting for a fiction by Golam Sohrab Dodul is also complete. There are a few more drama projects. I'll be shooting until Chaand Raat."
Sangeeta has also acted in Tanim Noor's film 'Bonolota Express', set for Eid release. About this, she commented, "I see a different kind of excitement among the audience for this film. It's based on the story 'Kichhukkhon' by revered author Humayun Ahmed. Watching it will surely take the audience back to the nineties."
Meanwhile, Sangeeta has garnered significant praise for the series 'Porompora'. Sharing her experience with the project, she said, "It's been a wonderful experience. The character Dilruba has several layers; it's not immediately obvious. I enjoy acting outside the box, so I'm personally liking my work in this character. And the audience is already sharing their opinions on social media. The viewership of this series shows how the audience has received it. I'm hearing appreciation for my acting. Some even call me Dilruba. Small comments from the audience inspire good work. It feels really good to become a favourite of theirs."
Sangeeta has been working in theatre since 2004. Reflecting on that, she said, "I joined Natyakendra under the tutelage of renowned director and actor Tariq Anam Khan. My first performance was in the play 'Projapoti'. Then, one after another, I acted in plays like 'Arabya Rajani', 'Aarj Charitamrita', 'Dalim Kumar', 'Mrityu Manushyer Chhaya', 'Dui Je Chhilo Ek Chakor', 'Banduk Juddho – Gadar Haat', 'Punnyo', 'Teerthajatri' etc. Currently, 'Punnyo' is being staged regularly. Natyam Repertory's 'Kothay Jole Morol Chole' will return to the stage soon. Preparations are slowly underway for a new play, 'Kasturi', organised by Porompora Repertory, written by Jewel Kabir and directed by Ribon Khandakar. The story of the play 'Priyo Rabindranath' revolves around Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. Counting, I have found myself in the stage lights for over two decades. I have worked with many talented directors, good scripts and ensembles. Everyone has contributed to making me the Sangeeta I am today."
