Saudi Arabia launches cooling ihram for hajj pilgrims

Saudi Arabia’s national carrier has launched “The Coolest Ihram” a revolutionary high-tech pilgrimage garment designed to cool wearers during Hajj and Umrah rituals.

The innovative clothing, developed in partnership with branding firm Landor and cooling fabric specialist brrr®, represents the first major technological advancement in Islamic pilgrimage attire.

The ihram contains patented cooling minerals, active wicking, and rapid-drying properties to create a personal cooling effect, lowering skin temperature by 1-2 degrees Celsius depending on environmental conditions.

The technical fabric provides UPF 50+ sun protection while maintaining complete compliance with ihram requirements for both male and female pilgrims.

The cooling ihram debuted at Arabian Travel Market 2025 in Dubai, positioning Saudia at the forefront of religious tourism innovation.
