Saudi Arabia and several Middle Eastern countries are celebrating the holy Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday (May 27) with religious devotion, festive spirit and the continuation of key Hajj rituals.

Millions of Muslims across the region gathered for Eid prayers early in the morning, while pilgrims in Saudi Arabia took part in the sacred rites of Hajj, including the symbolic stoning ritual in Mina and animal sacrifice.

A day earlier, pilgrims completed Wuquf at Arafat, one of the most significant pillars of Hajj. Nearly 16 lakh worshippers from around the world assembled at the plains of Arafat, spending the day in prayer, repentance and supplication. The area echoed with the chants of “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik” as pilgrims immersed themselves in spiritual devotion.

During the Hajj sermon at Masjid al-Namirah, Grand Imam of Masjid al-Haram Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi emphasized Muslim unity, global peace and the importance of Islamic values. The sermon was translated and broadcast in 35 languages, including Bangla, to reach Muslims worldwide.

After sunset, pilgrims travelled to Muzdalifah, where they spent the night collecting pebbles for the symbolic stoning of the devil at Mina. On Wednesday morning, the main Eid-ul-Azha rituals began with pilgrims performing the stoning ceremony at the largest Jamarah before proceeding with animal sacrifice and the remaining Hajj rites.

Meanwhile, Eid celebrations are also underway across the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern nations, where Muslims are observing the festival with prayers, family gatherings and charitable activities.

Saudi authorities have implemented extensive security and logistical measures to ensure the safe and smooth management of this year’s Hajj and Eid celebrations as millions continue to gather in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
