Scaloni expresses heartfelt message to Bangladesh fans ahead of England semi-final
Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has expressed heartfelt gratitude to football fans in Bangladesh for their unwavering support, saying the South American champions will do their best to reward that affection with victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final against England.
Argentina will face England in the second semi-final at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Wednesday night (1:00am Bangladesh time), with a place in the World Cup final at stake.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Scaloni responded to a question from a Bangladeshi journalist by praising the extraordinary passion of football fans in Bangladesh.
"The people of Bangladesh continue to surprise us every time. It's incredible that a country so far away from Argentina supports us with such passion. Your love for football is truly special," he said.
Scaloni said seeing millions of Bangladeshis wearing Argentina jerseys remains one of the most touching displays of international support for his team.
"To see so many people in Bangladesh wearing Argentina's shirt is an incredible feeling for us."
The Argentina coach also acknowledged the remarkable excitement that surrounds the Albiceleste whenever the World Cup begins, describing the support from Bangladesh as something the players and coaching staff deeply appreciate.
"We are sincerely grateful for your love and support over the years. Thank you—thank you very much."
Ending his message with a special note for Bangladeshi supporters, Scaloni said the team hopes to make them proud in the crucial semi-final.
"Today, we will try to give the people of Bangladesh a victory."
Argentina are aiming to book their place in a second consecutive World Cup final as they take on England in one of the tournament's biggest clashes.
