Police have recovered the hanging body of a schoolboy from a flat in the Subidbazar area of Sylhet city. A note written in English was also recovered from the room.

The body of Mahadi Anzum, 15, was recovered on Tuesday afternoon, June 9, from a flat on the fourth floor of a building with the help of the Fire Service.

Mahadi was the son of late Misbah Uddin and Dr Ruli Binte Rahim of the Mia Fazilchisht area in Subidbazar. He was a tenth-grade student of Sylhet Cantonment School and College.

Bimanbandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidur Rahman said preliminary investigation suggests the student may have committed suicide, though confirmation will come after a detailed probe.

Mahadi lived with his mother in the fourth-floor flat. A note was found in the room where the body was recovered. The note, written in English, requested that no autopsy be performed and that police not investigate the incident.

Police have sent the body to Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy after preparing the inquest report.
