The historic World Cup knockout match between Canada and South Africa remains locked in a scoreless draw at halftime at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Despite the lack of goals, the first 45 minutes delivered high-octane, attacking football from both sides.

Canada proved to be the more aggressive side in the final third, registering a total of eight shots, three of which were on target. The Canadians also earned three corners as they consistently pressed forward. In contrast, South Africa was limited to just three shots, with only one testing the keeper.

However, the South African side controlled the tempo of the game, enjoying 56 percent of the ball possession during the first half. The disciplined encounter saw no yellow or red cards issued to either team.

South Africa's goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, played a pivotal role in keeping the scoreline level, pulling off three crucial saves to deny dangerous Canadian opportunities. Canada’s star forward, Jonathan David, spearheaded multiple attacking moves but was unable to find the back of the net.

While Canada is expected to ramp up the pressure in the second half, the opportunity to secure a historic place in the next round remains wide open for both nations.
