'See you again': Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma's emotional farewell to Bangladesh
Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma has left Dhaka after the successful completion of his four-year term. Before departing for his next assignment as India's ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, he delivered an emotional farewell message expressing his deep affection for Bangladesh and its people, while sharing cherished memories.
"I have witnessed multiple transitions during my nearly four years in Dhaka. Although performing duties often felt challenging and demanding at times, the overall experience has been extremely enriching and rewarding," Verma said in his farewell note.
He described his time in Bangladesh with his wife Manu as one of the best and most cherished chapters of their lives.
"Cultural closeness and deep empathy have elevated our bilateral relations to unique heights. The shared sacrifices of the brave soldiers of both countries during Bangladesh's great Liberation War in 1971 remain unforgettable," he said, noting that the emotionally charged bilateral ties have strengthened further based on mutual goodwill and respect.
On future cooperation, Verma said, "Both countries need to expand the scope of partnership to address regional challenges, including climate change. I hope future programmes will align with the capabilities and goals of both nations."
Concluding his farewell message, Verma expressed the hope of reconnecting with his countless friends across all walks of life in Bangladesh who had deeply touched his heart.
"I look forward to staying in touch with them always. I hope our paths will cross again, sometime, somewhere! Until then, all I want to say is — see you again!"
