Senegal have sacked head coach Pape Thiaw and his entire coaching staff following their humiliating exit from the World Cup Round of 32, the Senegal Football Federation announced on Sunday, July 12.

The Lions of Teranga had taken a 2-0 lead against Belgium before conceding three goals in the final moments to lose the match.

The federation said in a statement that the executive committee had decided to relieve the national team coach and his entire staff of their duties.

Federation President Abdoulaye Fall will hold a press conference on Monday to explain the decision and discuss the future of Senegalese football.

The 45-year-old former Senegal international had been appointed head coach in 2024.
