Seven arrested in Bhaluka youth murder over blasphemy allegations

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-14) has arrested seven individuals, including the main suspect, in connection with the brutal killing of a Hindu youth in Bhaluka on charges of blasphemy.

The arrests were made across various locations in Mymensingh district on Saturday (December 19).

The arrested have been identified as Md. Limon Sarkar, 19, Md. Tarek Hossain, 19, Md. Manik Mia, 20, Ershad Ali, 39, Nizum Uddin, 20, Alamgir Hossain, 38, and Md. Miraj Hossain Akon, 46.

According to RAB, the suspects went into hiding following the incident. Acting on intelligence, multiple RAB teams conducted coordinated raids to apprehend them.

The detainees are being handed over to the concerned police station, RAB officials said. "Authorities may seek remand for further investigation."

Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the area.

A few days ago, a Hindu youth was brutally beaten to death in Bhaluka over allegations of insulting religion. The incident sparked widespread tension in the area, with local residents demanding a swift trial and exemplary punishment for those responsible. Following the attack, police and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched a joint investigation.
