Seven Bangladeshis handed back by India through Tamabil border
Seven Bangladeshi nationals who had served sentences in India for illegal infiltration have returned home through the Tamabil land port in Sylhet. The Indian Border Security Force handed them over to Bangladesh authorities on Tuesday afternoon, June 9, at the Tamabil immigration checkpoint in the presence of BGB and police from both countries.
According to Tamabil immigration police sources, these individuals had illegally entered India through the Gowainghat border area at various times. They were detained by Indian police, produced before court, and sent to jail. After serving long sentences at the Shillong District Jail in Meghalaya state, the Indian immigration authorities repatriated them following requests from Bangladeshi authorities after completing legal procedures.
The returnees are Md Muhibur Rahman and Abdul Quddus, sons of Md Sadir Mia of Noigaon area in Sunamganj Sadar upazila; Manik Ahmed, son of late Shaukat Ali of Tuker Bazar village; Md Suhel Ahmed, son of late Azizur Rahman of Chanpur village; Md Al-Amin, son of Jamal Uddin of Bongaon village; Badshah Mia, son of Abdul Hai of Shreerai village in Shalla upazila; and Restly Blah, son of Puhstar Dekhar of Sangrampunji area in Gowainghat upazila.
Tamabil Immigration Police In-charge SI Md Bazlur Rashid said the seven Bangladeshis were received after proper legal procedures in the presence of BGB, BSF and police from both countries. They were later handed over to their respective family members.
