Two weeks after the ceasefire took effect, hunger and malnutrition in Gaza remain “catastrophic,” the World Health Organisation (WHO) said.

The agency reported that Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid have prevented sufficient food supplies from entering the enclave.

According to the UN World Food Programme (WFP), Gaza currently receives only about 750 tons of food daily—far below the target of 2,000 tons. As a result, one-fourth of the population, including more than 11,000 pregnant women, is suffering from hunger.

“The aid entering Gaza is far from enough,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Humanitarian groups have accused Israel of indiscriminately blocking aid convoys.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said that since October 2023, more than 68,000 people have been killed and around 170,000 others injured in Israeli attacks.
