Indian sports goods manufacturer SG (Sanspareils Greenland) has decided not to renew its bat sponsorship contracts with several Bangladeshi cricketers, including Litton Kumar Das, sources confirmed.

Litton, whose bats previously carried the SG sticker, will no longer enjoy the benefits of the sponsorship, which included custom-made bats and commercial returns from branding. The company is also set to discontinue contracts with Yasir Ali Rabbi and former Test captain Mominul Haque.

Mominul Haque confirmed the development, saying he had heard about SG cancelling Litton’s sponsorship, though he had not yet received any official communication regarding his own contract.

However, Litton was unavailable for comment.

According to agents representing the players, SG had earlier indicated that the contracts would be renewed but later backed away without providing any formal explanation. The agents said they were informed of the decision verbally, with no official clarification from the company.

The move comes amid heightened political tensions between Bangladesh and India, following fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the IPL despite being bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 92 million at the auction. He was the only Bangladeshi among seven players listed who was picked in the auction.

BCB officials warned the situation could impact cricketing and commercial ties with India.

India remains a major supplier of sports equipment to Bangladesh, particularly cricket and hockey gear, although brands from Pakistan and other countries also operate in the market. In recent years, CA Sports has expanded its presence in Bangladesh, with former national captain Tamim Iqbal involved in its local business operations.
