Shakib Al Hasan, who has been away from international cricket for the past 13 months, remains active in competitive cricket. The star all-rounder, with experience in various franchise leagues around the world, has been handed a new responsibility. The newly formed team Royal Champs has announced Shakib as its captain for the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League.

On Saturday November 8, Royal Champs introduced Shakib as their captain through a 30-second video on their official Facebook page. The franchise wrote, “The wait is over. The king has finally been found. Shakib Al Hasan will lead Royal Champs. A true champion, a fearless warrior, and now the elite captain of Royal Champs.”

Shakib took part in the tournament in 2024 for Bangla Tigers. Speaking about joining the new team, he said, “I am very delighted to join Royal Champs and to have the opportunity to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. This new edition is very exciting, and I want to give my best for the team.”

Legendary Caribbean pacer Courtney Walsh is serving as the team’s head coach. He said, “A well-balanced team has been built that can adapt to the fast-paced nature of T10 cricket.”

The new season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League will begin on November 18. Royal Champs will play their first match the next day, November 19, against Vista Riders.
